Fright Train Wiki Overview

Welcome to the unofficial Fright Train wiki. This page is the high-level map of everything you need after boarding the L.R.S. Great White: how the roguelite loop works, which hubs answer which questions, and where to go when a storm locks you inside a dying train car.

Fright Train launched on September 15, 2026 for PC via Steam. It is a single-player third-person survival horror roguelite from WildArts Games, published with Black Lantern Collective. You play Doug Barker, a paranormal special agent for P.A.W. (Paranormal Agency Worldwide), responding to a distress signal from a secretive SHARK corporation research locomotive racing across Antarctica.

What this wiki covers

Use these hubs depending on what you are stuck on:

  • Guides Hub — beginner onboarding, inventory mastery, train maintenance, and storm combat.
  • Tier List Hub — weapon rankings and item priorities for credit spending.
  • Roster Hub — Doug Barker, allies on the radio, and enemy behavior notes.
  • Tools Hub — controls, rebinding, and PC system requirements.
  • Updates Hub — launch context and patch-facing notes.
  • Codes — honest status on redeemables (there are none) plus Steam extras.

Core fantasy in one paragraph

Each run drops you into a procedurally arranged train. You scavenge resources, earn credits (employee points), unlock doors and cars, buy vending-machine supplies, upgrade guns, and push toward extraction on the locomotive roof before the train reconfigures. While you explore, car integrity decays. Storm markers appear on the distance tracker. When a storm hits, you are locked in your current car and must clear spawned enemies. If any car reaches critical condition, the train may stop — forcing deadly outside repairs in the Antarctic cold.

That loop creates the player pain points this wiki targets: confusing inventory slots, slow reloads from bad magazine placement, wasted credits on weak guns, ignored antifreeze canisters, and panic during the first storm wave. The Getting Started guide removes the fog of war. Inventory Management teaches body-slot fetch speeds. Keep the Train Running focuses on terminals, shutters, and antifreeze. Combat and Storms covers wave discipline and enemy weak points.

Story framing without spoilers

Doug arrives as a P.A.W. agent with HQ navigation support. The Great White belongs to SHARK. Something interdimensional has gone wrong inside the iron corridors. Lore shows up through notes, radio calls, and environmental storytelling rather than a single linear corridor crawl. Because the structure is roguelite, story beats unfold across successful and failed expeditions — which is why meta-progression, cosmetics, skins, and modifiers matter between runs. Read Doug Barker for character framing and Enemies for how monster behaviors intertwine.

How we write pages

Every major page aims for practical depth: what to do, why it matters, and which other pages to open next. Internal links use clear anchor text. When a YouTube video helps, we embed one mid-article facade player — never invented IDs, never stacked trailers at the bottom. Cross-check release facts against Updates and the Steam store if a patch lands after you read this.

If you only have ten minutes before launching Steam, open Getting Started and the Weapons Tier List. If you keep dying because the train stops, skip straight to Keep the Train Running. If inventory menus feel slower than the monsters, fix your loadout with Inventory Management.

Stay warm, keep the locomotive moving, and treat every credit like it has to buy your next storm clear.
